How to Buy Bespoke Packaging . . .
If you contact TPH the answer is simple - just talk to us, we’re the experts and can offer advice every step along the way. Because packaging design isn’t completely straightforward, there are quite a few factors you need to think about:
FOOTPRINT
Obviously the packaging needs to fit your product but there’s a few other things to consider. You need to visualise your 3D packaging as a flat template, including the right size and correctly positioned flaps and folds to make it work. A well designed box should be snug enough to protect your product and prevent slippage but loose enough not to get stuck or tear. You need to also think about image orientation, how are people going to handle your boxed product and how do you optimise the graphics for the best viewing experience.
CONSTRUCTION & MATERIALS
What material do you want to print on? As well as different paper finishes which lend depth and interest to the final print, you need to choose a paper grade and thickness appropriate for your project. Paper type is also a key consideration - is it important to you to use recycled, eco-stock, are you looking for an organic, tactile finish or do you need a grease-resistant coating which is suitable for a food container exterior?
DESIGN
There are so many sizes and shapes of boxes to play with - boxes with handles, lids, windows, drawers, angles and curves. You might not necessarily need a printed box, sometimes a box sleeve or well-designed label can be a flexible, cost-effective alternative. Other flourishes like ribbon, stamps and wrappings can also enhance a standard box.
